ABSTRACT
“Clouds come floating into my life, no longer to carry rain or usher storm, but to add colour to my sunset sky.” ― Rabindranath Tagore These words of Rabindranath Tagore of maturity is the golden words of adolescent period which is the period of stress and strain, is a transitional phase of physical and psychological human development that generally occurs during the period from puberty to adulthood. Children during this phase undergo various changes physically, emotionally, spiritually but the most important factor is mental health of the adolescents. Mental health is affected by all the factors. Rightly said is healthy mind resides in healthy body, so being physically fit children can mentally grows in a positive way. It is the well being of emotional and social development by making healthy relationships with family and friends, being happy and positive about life, community participation and belonging, self- growth and resilience, achieving great heights by balancing challenges and stress in life. This paper discusses the mental health and mental illness of adolescents, factors affecting the mental health and providing strategies to children to overcome their mental disorders.
