ABSTRACT
In Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) mostly youngsters are employed: they have to work in different shifts. Due to nature of job and working in shifts the workers have to face several mental health problems. 72 workers took part in the study, among them 50 were males and 50 were females. They were coming from low and high socio-economic status background. They were administered Mithila Mental Health Status Inventory by Anandkurmar and Thakur and socio-economic status scale by Janbandhu. It was hypothesized that females show significantly more psychiatric symptoms and syndrome than the males. Also it was assumed that the Ss coming from low socio-economic status background have significantly poor mental health than the Ss coming from high socio-economic background. A 2×2 factorial design was used. Two way ANOVA was applied. Both hypotheses got support from the results. Anxiety, depression, impulsivity were found more among females than males. Social non-conformity was significantly more among males than females. Emotional instability was more prevalent among females than males.
