A Study of Job Satisfaction of Teacher Educators of Anand District

ABSTRACT

The concept of job satisfaction is not only limited to employee sector, but covers all the other sectors as well, where there is involvement of employees and workers. Education is basically the influence which teachers exert on the students entrusted to their care. In order to perform his role of paramount and vital significance effectively, teachers should be well aware of professional demands and obligations placed on them by the profession.  Nowadays, there is, however, a general feeling that teachers do not find satisfaction in their job. Teachers are dissatisfied in spite of different plans and programs, certain incentives and conditions. Job satisfaction consists of a total body of feeling about the nature of job promotion, nature of supervision etc. that an individual has about his job. The objectives of the study are to study of job satisfaction of teacher educators of Anand District, to study the influence factors on the satisfaction level at work place and to develop insights into what makes people happy at their work places. Research Questions are what is the overall level of job satisfaction of the teacher educator of Anand District?, what degree of job satisfaction do the teacher educators under study report on each of the subscales of questionnaire? and is there difference between the job satisfaction of male and female teacher educators? All the teacher educators Gujarati medium B Ed colleges of Anand district affiliated to the Sardar Patel University were selected. Researcher has select purposive sampling as only those teacher educators Gujarati medium B Ed colleges affiliated to the Sardar Patel University. In this study Results shown 8.33% reported being very dissatisfied with their position. 10.42% of the respondents indicated that they were dissatisfied with their current job. Majority of the sample 43.75% expressed that they were satisfied, and 31.25% reported that they were very satisfied with their current position. 6.25% reported undecided whether they were satisfied or not. Fourteen percent of the respondents scores fell in the dissatisfied range, while 47.91% of the scores were within the satisfied range, and respondents’ scores were in very satisfied range. The remaining 4.17% of the participants’ scores fell in the undecided range. Interestingly 66% male respondents fell under satisfied categories whereas females covered 84% satisfied categories.
