Modernization of youth and its effect on their consciousness

ABSTRACT
Modernization inspires the society to come out of the shell of backwardness and to construct healthy relationship with different societies. Most of the researchers had chosen values, religion, and attitude as important variables of their research but not in relation to fast changing society and its associated factors. The other variable like modernization and human consciousness are rarely studied on society. Therefore, the researcher felt the need to study the “Modernization of youth and its effect on their Consciousness.” The main objectives of the study were framed with null hypothesis as to study the modernization and its dimensions of male and female students, to study the consciousness levels of male and female students, to study the effects of modernization on the consciousness of male and female students and last one is to study the inter co-relation between modernization and consciousness of the students. Descriptive survey method is employed in the present study. Sample was consisted of 100 students in which 50 boys and 50 girls were selected from Science stream of D.E.I. deemed university through stratified random method. Comprehensive modernization inventory by S.P. Ahluwalia and A.K. Kalia (1971) and the consciousness quotient inventory developed by Brazdua (2011) have been selected as research tool for the present study. Descriptive and Inferential statistical techniques such as Mean, S.D., Correlation coefficient and t-test used as required in the present study.
