Stress, Resilience and Psychological Wellbeing among Employed Women Across Age Group

ABSTRACT

Globally, Stress has become an inherent feature in everyone’s lifestyle, especially in working women as they have to manage family and their jobs. Resilience gives humans the emotional strength to cope up with everyday stress, and ensures the psychological wellness of human beings. The theoretical underpinning for resilience helping to cope with stress is based on the process of adapting well in the face of adversity. The present study aimed at (1) finding out the differences in the level of stress among employed women across age groups, (2) finding out the differences in the levels of resilience among employed women across age groups (3) finding out the differences in the levels of psychological well-being among employed women across age groups(4) to see the relationship between the stress, resilience, and level psychological well-being among employed women across age groups. A purposive sample of 90 employed women (30 from each age groups) were considered for the study. perceived stress scale s cohen ,1994 resilience scale Resilience scale Kano, 2011 Ryff’s psychological well-being scales, carol ryff 1989 determine the levels of stress, resilience, psychological well-being in the participants. One way ANOVA, Kruskal – Wallis test, Spearman roh correlation was used to analyse the differences and association between the variables respectively. The results of the study indicated that there is no significant difference between stress, resilience, and level psychological well-being among employed women across age groups.
