ABSTRACT
Policing is a profession characterized by frequent exposure to potentially aggressive situations, which can have significant implications for the well-being of Police personnel. The present study was undertaken to see the gender difference in workplace aggression and well-being among police personnel and the possible association of well-being with workplace aggression. Two major hypotheses were formulated for the study: gender differences in workplace aggression and psychological well-being relationship with workplace aggression. The study was conducted on 60 head constables (30 males and 30 females) working at different police stations in Lucknow. The participants were taken purposively from six different police stations. ‘‘Two different tools were administered to the participants one each for the measurement of workplace aggression and well-being. Obtained data were analyzed with the help of mean, standard deviation, and ‘t’ test for each variable. Results showed significant differences between males and females in workplace aggression and well-being among police personnel. However, workplace aggression and well-being were found to be weakly related to each other but the intensity of the relationships was too weak to be significant (r = 0.103, p = 0.586).
