ABSTRACT

Women and girls with disabilities face a myriad of psychological challenges that significantly impact their well-being and quality of life. This review synthesizes existing literature to elucidate the psychological issues prevalent in this population. Factors such as societal attitudes, gender expectations, and accessibility barriers contribute to heightened levels of stress, anxiety, and depression among women and girls with disabilities. Moreover, the intersectionality of disability and gender exacerbates these challenges, leading to a greater risk of marginalization and social exclusion. Despite these obstacles, many women and girls with disabilities demonstrate resilience and agency in navigating their psychological struggles. The study highlights the importance of addressing these psychological issues through inclusive and holistic interventions that consider the unique needs of women and girls with disabilities. Community support and awareness programs are essential to promote the mental health and empowerment of women and girls with disabilities.
