Impact of Socio-Cultural Deprivation on Personality Dimensions (Extra Version and Neuroticism) among Secondary School Children

The study was undertaken to investigate impact of socio-cultural deprivation on personality dimension (extraversion and Neuroticism types) among higher Secondary School children. It was conducted in rural and urban areas of Darbhanga district – a well-connected cultural city in India. The sample size was comprised of 400 subjects (200 students of socially disadvantage and 200 students of socially enriched). The samples were randomly selected in class 11th and 12th standard. The Socio-economic status (SES) scale, social deprivation scale and junior Eysenck personality inventory of B. Kuppuswamy (1972), B. De & Sinha (1972), and H. J. Eysenck (1965) and personal data sheet were used. The results revealed that socially enriched group was significantly more extraverts than socially disadvantaged group and the disadvantaged group was relatively more disposed toward neuroticism.
