ABSTRACT
The increasing prevalence of sleep problems, especially following the COVID-19 pandemic, highlights the need to explore the underlying contributing factors. This study investigates the mediating role of anxiety in the relationship between personality traits and sleep quality. By examining how personality characteristics influence anxiety and, in turn, impact sleep, this research aims to shed light on a crucial pathway often overlooked in addressing sleep disturbances. A sample of 150 participants completed the Big Five Personality Inventory, Sleep Quality Scale, and the Beck Anxiety Inventory through an online survey platform. The results revealed that openness, conscientiousness, and neuroticism are indirectly related to sleep quality through anxiety. Additionally, while there were no direct effects of personality traits on sleep quality, the total effect was significant for both openness and neuroticism. These findings underscore the importance of considering anxiety as a mediator in the relationship between personality and sleep quality, offering a potential pathway for interventions aimed at improving sleep.
