ABSTRACT

As India marches toward the vision of Viksit Bharat, a developed, digitally empowered, and globally competitive nation, cybersecurity emerges as a cornerstone of national resilience. While technological advancements often take centre stage in cybersecurity discourse, the human and organizational elements remain equally, if not more, crucial. This Paper aims to unravel the behavioral and organizational dimensions that influence cybersecurity practices, awareness, and vulnerabilities in the Indian context. The behavioral perspective delves into the psychology of users, examining patterns of digital behavior, risk perception, social engineering susceptibility, and the role of cyber hygiene in personal and professional settings. Concurrently, the organizational perspective explores how institutions ranging from government agencies to private enterprises shape cybersecurity culture through policies, training, governance structures, and incident response mechanisms. This article discusses an interdisciplinary strategy for cultivating cyber-responsible citizens and cyber-resilient organizations by bringing together researchers, policymakers, technologists, psychologists, and management professionals. As evident the emphasis is on behavioral interventions, ethical digital practices, and policy reforms tailored to India’s diverse socio-cultural landscape. This paper also seeks to address challenges in cybersecurity education, leadership accountability, and employee engagement in safeguarding digital assets. Through critical dialogue and knowledge exchange, this paper talks of actionable insights that align with the larger goal of Viksit Bharat, where digital trust, national security, and human-centric cybersecurity go hand-in-hand in building a safe and inclusive digital future.
