ABSTRACT
This study investigates the complex relationships between procrastination, self-regulation and locus of control among young adults aged 18 to 25, while also exploring potential gender differences in these variables. A sample of 100 participants, including 50 males and 50 females, was recruited using convenience sampling methods. Participants completed self-report measures assessing procrastination, self-regulation, and locus of control. The outcomes indicate weak negative correlation among procrastination and self-regulation, suggesting that as levels of self-regulation increase, procrastination tends to decrease slightly. Additionally, a significant positive correlation was found between procrastination and three dimensions of locus of control -Internal, Powerful others, and Chance. This suggests that individuals who have stronger beliefs about control orientations are more likely to exhibit higher levels of procrastination. It was also found that self-regulation and internal dimension of locus of control are positively correlated. However, gender differences in procrastination and self-regulation were not statistically significant. The study emphasizes the importance of enhancing self-regulation skills to diminish procrastination tendencies, particularly in educational contexts. While acknowledging limitations such as sample size and reliance on self-report measures, the implications of this research highlight the need for tailored interventions and further longitudinal investigations to deepen our understanding of these constructs.
