Teachers’ Perspectives on Integrating Environmental and Climate Change Education; Fostering Sustainability among School Students

We as a human race are standing on a cliff point, where if the balance is not maintained one might fall on the other side, which has its repercussions, a comparable situation has been getting warm for decades against mother nature. This paper deals with teachers’ opinions on teaching EE for developing sustainability among school students because teachers are the medium through which the content is delivered and they are the facilitators for the students, it is important to know and analyze their opinion towards teaching and their challenges, current scenario of the schools, the importance of Environmental Education and Climate Change, its impact, their teaching, initiatives towards mitigation and opportunities etc. A questionnaire considering open and close-ended questions was prepared and administered to the teachers. It was ascertained that teachers face challenges while teaching EE and CCE at the middle stage in English medium schools and do think that teaching EE and CCE is very important to teach. There is a need for training, resources, specific publications, infrastructure and support from schools and parents as well.
