ABSTRACT

In this present study the researcher made comparative study of the college going students. On the variable Mental Health and Emotional Intelligence. The main objective of the present research is to find out the difference between B.A. and B.Com. students with relation to Mental Health as well as Emotional Intelligence. For investigation used 2X2 factorial design. Total sample was 120, out of this 30 boys and 30 girls from third year B.A. remaining 60, were from B.Com boys and girls. These students came from Dondaicha (Maharashtra, India) village. The average age is 20.73 to the sampling students. The research tool for this study research used by Roqan Emotional Intelligence Test (REIT) was made by Roquiya Zainuddin and Anjum Ahmed. Its coefficient correlation reliability is 0.7 Second study Mithilas Mental Health Status Inventory (MMHSI) was made by Anand Kumar and Girdher Thakur. Its test-retest reliability is 0.88 and concurrent validity is 0.83. and validity is 0.80 ‘t’ test was applied to check the difference between B.A., & B.Com. boys and girls students Mental Health and Emotional Intelligence. The result obtained through the study showed not significant difference between B.A. and B.Com. boys and girls with relation to Emotional Intelligence researcher were found significant differences in the area of Self Awareness. It means B.A. girls students more Emotional Awareness and Self Confidence than the boys students. In the other areas like Self Regulation, Social Skill, Motivation and Empathy not significant differences were found. With concern to Mental Health as well as areas related to it, which as Egocentrism, Alienation, Expression, Emotional Un-stability and social non-conformity. With relation to B.Com. students, investigators were found significant difference with only Self Regulation area. Hence B.Com. girls were too much trustworthy, self control and innovative than the boys college students.
