ABSTRACT
This research aims to determine the influence of marital status and perceived pay equity on the absenteeism of employees at the Cocody University Hospital. In this perspective, we conducted a questionnaire survey with a sample of eighty subjects. The data collected were subjected to the chi-square test. The results show that married nurses are more absent from their workstations than their single peers. It is also revealed that nurses who perceive pay inequity are more absent from work than those who perceive pay equity. These results have been interpreted in the light of Maslow’s (1943) theory of needs and Adams’ (1963) theory of equity.
