ABSTRACT
Dopamine detox, a behavioral intervention aimed at reducing overstimulation, has emerged as a promising strategy to enhance mental clarity and focus in the digital age. This paper explores the concept of dopamine detox and its cultural relevance in India, where rising digital addiction among youth presents unique challenges. By examining the role of dopamine in reward-based behavior and the desensitization caused by excessive digital media use, the study highlights the potential of dopamine detox to recalibrate the brain’s reward system. The paper further explores how Indian collectivist values, familial structures, and societal expectations influence the adoption of such practices. It suggests culturally tailored interventions to foster mindfulness, well-being, and improved productivity in Indian society.
