ABSTRACT
One of the most widespread neurodevelopmental conditions affecting the social interactions and learning abilities of children in present scenario is Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Manifesting symptoms like prolonged periods of sedentary behaviour or excessive restlessness or impulsivity this disorder creates new complexities to a child’s acclimatization in school and socialization with peers. Children with ADHD often underperform in studies, face troubles with peer acceptance and are prone to show aggressive behaviour in classroom settings failing to display emotional restraint. This paper explores the intricate effects of ADHD on academic performance and socialization of children having the condition. It further investigates and probes into the cognitive, emotional, and behavioural domains of children with ADHD. Additionally, it discusses the intervention models suitable to the environments at home and in schools and suggests inclusive support systems. The paper includes statistical data and comparison charts to develop a holistic understanding of the special needs of these children and recommends productive steps to cater to their requirements.
