ABSTRACT
The present study aims to investigate the association between gender and self-esteem among school students. The sample of the study comprises N= 150 students from Lamka town. Out of the total sample, 62 are female and 88 are male among the age group of 12-17 years. Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES) along with demographic profile was used to measure the level of self-esteem of the participants. Chi-square test was done and the finding of the study highlight a statistically significant correlation between gender and self-esteem among the surveyed population. This revelation suggests that gender dynamics may intricately influence self-perception and confidence levels among school students. Such insights hold implications for educators, policymakers, and mental health professionals, emphasizing the importance of cultivating environments that foster positive self-esteem across diverse gender identities. By acknowledging and addressing the role of gender in shaping self-esteem, interventions, and support mechanisms can be made to meet the needs of students, ultimately promoting holistic well-being and academic success.
