ABSTRACT

The present study explores the impact of gender on happiness and emotional intelligence among college students. A sample of 100 college students (50 males and 50 females) from the Parbhani District of Maharashtra was selected using a randomized sampling technique. Emotional intelligence was assessed using the Emotional Intelligence Scale by Arun Kumar Singh and Shruti Narian, while happiness was measured using the Happiness Scale (Gilbert, 2012). Results revealed significant gender differences across all dimensions of emotional intelligence and happiness. Male students scored significantly higher than female students in understanding emotions, motivation, empathy, handling relationships, overall emotional intelligence, and happiness. These findings suggest that male students might exhibit higher emotional processing abilities and psychological well-being, which could be attributed to societal, cultural, and psychological factors. The implications of these findings emphasize the need for gender-sensitive approaches to promoting emotional intelligence and happiness among students.
