ABSTRACT

In the contemporary context of globalization, digital transformation, and the knowledge economy, higher education institutions are facing increasing pressure to enhance quality, relevance, and accountability. Traditional lecture-based and examination-oriented practices are proving inadequate in meeting the diverse learning needs of 21st-century learners and the growing demand for employability-oriented skills. Against this backdrop, the present conceptual paper examines the concept and significance of innovative educational practices in higher education and proposes a comprehensive conceptual framework linking such practices with quality outcomes. The paper conceptualizes innovative educational practices as learner-centered, outcome-oriented, and technology-enabled approaches that transform teaching, learning, assessment, and institutional processes. It identifies key dimensions of innovation, including pedagogical, technological, assessment, and organizational or institutional practices, and discusses their interrelated role in improving teaching effectiveness and institutional quality. The study further highlights how innovative educational practices enhance student engagement by promoting active participation, collaboration, autonomy, and continuous feedback. Enhanced student engagement is viewed as a critical mediating factor that leads to improved learning outcomes, higher student satisfaction, better employability, and overall institutional effectiveness. By integrating these dimensions, the proposed conceptual framework offers a holistic understanding of how innovation in educational practices contributes to quality enhancement in higher education. The paper provides valuable theoretical insights for educators, institutional leaders, and policymakers and lays a strong foundation for future empirical research on innovative practices and quality outcomes in higher education.
