ABSTRACT
A study of learned optimism and resilience through the prism of family structures provides a microcosmic understanding of India’s larger psychological transition. The present study researched the levels of learned optimism and resilience of adults who lived within a joint and a nuclear family system. The study aimed to examine, assess, and compare the levels of learned optimism and social anxiety among the adults of joint and nuclear families. The sample consisted of 100 participants (Male= 50 & Female= 50), aged 20-30 years, participants belonged to either a joint or a nuclear family that lived in Varanasi city. Findings showed that no significant differences were found between family types and genders on learned optimism and resilience. The participants showed a strong positive relationship between the levels of learned optimism and resilience.
