ABSTRACT
Aim: To assess the awareness of occupational therapy (OT) among school teachers in Tamil Nadu. Objectives: 1. To evaluate the level of awareness about occupational therapy among school teachers. 2. To compare occupational therapy awareness across different teacher demographics. Method: A descriptive study was conducted using a convenient sampling method, involving 334 school teachers. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire, with 300 responses obtained via Google Forms and 34 responses collected directly. Results and Conclusion: Findings revealed a significant lack of awareness regarding occupational therapy among school teachers. Only a small proportion of teachers were familiar with OT and its scope in education and rehabilitation. The results emphasize the need for increased awareness programs and professional development initiatives to enhance teachers’ understanding of occupational therapy and its benefits in supporting student development.
