ABSTRACT
The body stays still while the mind goes back to past conversations, unfinished tasks, and imagined futures while reading a book. This experience seems quite familiar and relatable to a lot of people of this generation. Yet centuries ago, the yoga sutra of Patanjali called this very condition as “Chitta Vritti,” which means, mental fluctuations that disturb the state of inner balance. However, the yogic perspective does not regard restlessness as weakness. Rather than suppressing it, yogic approach encourages understanding, disciple, patience and awareness. This paper looks at how the Yoga Sutras offer a kind and practical way to move from mental chaos to inner stability.
