Emotional and behavioral problems in institutionalized children of Maoism affected regions

ABSTRACT
State government started Mukhyamantri Bal Bhavishya Suraksha Yojna to provide better education facilities for children living in Maoist violence affected districts in Chhattisgarh. Under this scheme children are kept away from their families in residential institutes. The primary objective of this study is to identify emotional and behavioral problems of children living in various institutes under this scheme. Teachers were asked to fill questionnaire and provide information about 332 students. It was observed that 9.3% of children have emotional and behavioral problems. Of which maximum problem area was with peer and minimum was conduct disorder. Further, boys than girls and adolescents than young children have shown more emotional and behavioral problems. Academically, these children are average.
