ABSTRACT

Family support is an important psychosocial resource that contributes to subjective well-being, particularly within the collectivistic socio-cultural context of India. This study examined whether perceived family support predicts life satisfaction among Indian young adults from an indigenous relational perspective. A cross-sectional correlational design was employed with 60 participants aged 18–30 years. Perceived family support was assessed using the Family Subscale of the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS), and life satisfaction was measured using the Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS). Pearson’s correlation and simple linear regression were performed. Perceived family support showed a significant positive association with life satisfaction (r = .33, p = .010) and significantly predicted life satisfaction. The findings underscore the continuing importance of supportive family relationships in promoting positive psychological well-being among Indian young adults.
