ABSTRACT

In the present study, the researcher have attempted to study the relationship between family environment and anxiety among adolescents and if there is a difference between anxiety level among the genders in Metro cities like Bengaluru and Chennai. The Sample comprised of both males and females, both school and college goers within the age group of 13 – 19 years.  The questionnaire used in the present study was the IPAT scale for measuring the anxiety level among adolescents and the Family Environment Scale by Bhatia and Chadha.  The major findings of the study showed that there is no major difference between the anxiety level between the genders. There was a significant relationship between the family environment and the anxiety level of adolescents.  Pearson Correlation and t-test were used from a statistical perspective to study the relationship between family environment and anxiety level among adolescents. The review is summarised and tangents are left open for further research along with directions for the same.
